Something to think about….

Our readings from 2 Kings this week report the state of a community as they pass from one king’s rule to another.  The changes each king wrought had to make heads spin!  One king was all about idol worship and the next one removed all the idols and recentered everyone back on God.  Then they got another king that wiped out anything God approved of and put idol worship back into place.  YIKES!  This had to be a stressful time.

We began talking about how this scenario is mirrored in the world today.  Changes in government leadership often result in this type of large scale change.  Maybe a change in company ownship at work or even just getting a new boss.  We even see it when a new pastor comes into a church.  Change is hard.  How do you know which change to cope with and which change to raise a ruckus about?  Well the answer to that is both easy and hard at the same time.  You must be in tune with God’s Word and His will.  How do you that?  You spend time reading your Bible.  You study it with others.  You pray and pray some more.  We must be intimately familiar with God and that takes time, as all relationships do.  Time – that’s what is require of us.  Time – something most of us would say we don’t have enough of already.  Time – Something we can give that is monetarily free but costly to us all at the same time.

How are you investing your time?  Do the ways you are investing your minutes provide fantastic dividends?  Shouldn’t they?

Meeting, maybe?

Hi girls!

The summer is wrapping up! Perhaps now all of us will get back to our “normal” super busy schedules!

I’m planning on getting something that resembles a group together this weekend. Doris is in Germany and Pam is at the State Fair. So as long as Donna and Sandi don’t have to work on Saturday and Karen is still in town – The four of us can get together.

Taking another week off…

It must be summer because I can’t round up enough of us to pull together a meeting.    Our factory girls have been doing long days of inventory and so they are wiped out.  It’s the week of the county fair so that takes out Pam and to a large degree, me.  Lastly Karen’s on vacation.  So Doris and I decided that we didn’t want to have a meeting with just the 2 of us.  I’m so glad I didn’t find this out unitl after I had completed the study for the week though.  That means that I actually made an attempt to complete it!  Some days it was not my best attempt.  I can confess that.  But I did get all days read and answered.

My goal for this week is to write down what I ate each night.  I’ve got to find a way to plan for success in continuing my First Place lifestyle.  I can do this but it does take time.

I know that some of us are missing the tracker forms to fill out this week because of the cancellation.  Use a regular piece of paper if you need to.  Also, I’ll only be collecting the last week (July 19-25) of our trackers at the next meeting.

Are you feeling overwhelmed?

Me too.  It’s a lot to think about.  But I think we can all agree that we were too comfortable before.  Each of us had morphed the First Place program into something we could live with.  We had all made some good changes but there probably many things about the old program that you had purposefully turned a blind eye to.  Maybe you decided that it was really okay to eat red meat every day of the week or to not exercise or not to do the study.  Whatever it was you are about to be challenged to re-evaluate your position again.  What a wonderful opportunity!  What will you do with your opportunity?
