The summer is wrapping up! Perhaps now all of us will get back to our “normal” super busy schedules!
I’m planning on getting something that resembles a group together this weekend. Doris is in Germany and Pam is at the State Fair. So as long as Donna and Sandi don’t have to work on Saturday and Karen is still in town – The four of us can get together.
It must be summer because I can’t round up enough of us to pull together a meeting. Our factory girls have been doing long days of inventory and so they are wiped out. It’s the week of the county fair so that takes out Pam and to a large degree, me. Lastly Karen’s on vacation. So Doris and I decided that we didn’t want to have a meeting with just the 2 of us. I’m so glad I didn’t find this out unitl after I had completed the study for the week though. That means that I actually made an attempt to complete it! Some days it was not my best attempt. I can confess that. But I did get all days read and answered.
My goal for this week is to write down what I ate each night. I’ve got to find a way to plan for success in continuing my First Place lifestyle. I can do this but it does take time.
Did you read the pages in our member’s guide for this week? Did anything challenge your way of thinking?
I know that some of us are missing the tracker forms to fill out this week because of the cancellation. Use a regular piece of paper if you need to. Also, I’ll only be collecting the last week (July 19-25) of our trackers at the next meeting.
When the new series got here I registered our group at www.firstplace4health.org. I believe I added this blog to our listing. Since I do heartily believe that our prayer requests should be private, I have password protected the prayer request entries. I am sending out an email today to all of you with the password please contact me if you don’t get it. My email is brendam “at” localline2 “dot” com
Today’s meeting started small with only myself and Doris. Karen showed up a few minutes later. Where was everyone you might ask? Well let’s see….
Pam was at a pig show with her family.
Sandi was being made to work.
Donna was hanging out with Jack at the hospital.
Lisa was….?
Here are few of the positive side of things at First Place St. Paul’s:
Sounds like Jack is recovering well. He is getting his temporary stint removed today (I think) and he doesn’t need to have a permanent one put in. God is good!
Doris has been sent a check in the mail from their insurance and that is answer to a prayer. Now she has more money for their trip to Germany this summer.
School’s winding down which is both a good and a bad thing for over half the group. There’s lots to get done in the next few days but Summer Vacation is just around the corner!
Just so you all know: I’ve started posting Pastor’s sermons on the net at the blog page for church. You can visit the link at stpaulswoodworth.weebly.com But remember that if you’re still using a dial up connection you will have to wait a looooooong time to get the 20 minute sound file on your computer. (sorry Pam)
Sometimes I need be told that someone is noticing my efforts. I was reaching that point with this blog. I felt like I was writing only to myself. But Lisa reminded me that she’s reading when she doesn’t come to the meeting. Sometimes life gets busy and/or I get lazy. That’s when some things get set aside. I will admit that this blog was on the list to get set aside. Why spend time talking to myself on the internet? It takes a lot less time to just do it in person.
So Lisa – Thanks!!
Thanks for letting me know that someone’s reading this. I’ll do my best to keep it going a while longer.
How about the rest of you? Please let me know who’s checking up on the blog. Leave a comment or write an email or even tell me in person. I’d love to hear from you.
First of all, BRRRRRRRRR it’s painfully cold outside!
Okay. Doris, Karen, Donna and I met today. We’ve covered 11 more chapters of Genesis and discovered that there are many stories in Genesis that we haven’t studied. I don’t think I’ve ever read chapter 31 and 32. I didn’t know that Jacob knew how to make sheep spotted or striped. Interesting. We also discussed how interesting it was to know the stories that lead up to each of the big stories we are familiar with.
3 of us showed a loss on the scale this week. To God be the glory! Congrats to Karen for making the choice to eat more wisely and then having it pay off in a BIG way! Keep it going Karen!
We missed you Pam and Lisa! Hope to see you soon!
We missed you too Sandi. Hope your head cold is getting better.
I managed to get to work today. I thought my biggest worry was the water but it turns out that my tire was a bigger issue. Apparently, according to my husband, my tire was flat when I left the house. (I know, I know, I’m an idiot) But I didn’t really notice it till I got out my Edgar’s place. Thankfullymy husband was still home and came out to put on my spare. So I was on my way to school with a funky “donut” on my rear wheel. Then my husband who loves me sooooo much drove my old tire home and got me a new tire. He then drove that new tire to Danforth and put it on my car. I think God has given me the best husband in the WORLD. But everything after getting to school was just as it was supposed to. Thank goodness.
I hope the rest of your families and your homes are okay after the big rain here too. Be safe and I’ll see you soon I hope.
Thank God for the members of this group! So how do you girls decide who’s coming to study with me each week? Do you draw straws, guess numbers, put in money? Last week was Sandi’s turn, this week Karen got to come discuss with me. We had a great time and managed to fill up all the minutes.
Donna and Sandi called me early this morning to say the roads were too bad. “Roads bad?” I thought, “The roads outside look fine.” However sometimes I forget that I live on Rt. 49 which gets plowed and salted regularly. I discovered what Donna and Sandi meant once I turned on the country road for church. It was a sheet of ice coated in water. By the time I came home though the road was slushy. I completely understand why they stayed home, especially since they drove those roads to work during the week. I hope the weather cooperates next week and I get to see them.
Lisa and Doris are still traveling. But they both should return to the state sometime this weekend. Pam emailed me that she wouldn’t be able to make it this week. Hopefully all is still well at her house. You’re in my prayers hon!
This week we’re reading Gen. 11-21. The questions are posted on the site. No memory verses yet.
